Law School Requirements

Before you begin the application process to get into law school, you need to have a clear understanding about law school requirements. There is a lot of competition as there are more aspiring law students than there are seats available. In order to be certain about acquiring a seat, you need to be better prepared for all the prerequisites of the admission process.

Basic Law School Requirements

Undergraduate Courses
A good degree from an accredited institution would stand you in good stead. If your transcript carries courses on sociology, political science, economics and philosophy or history it would help. You also need to be up-to-date on current affairs.

LSAT
The Law School Admissions Test or LSAT is mandatory for getting into any accredited law school in the US. Though LSAT may not be required for getting into non-accredited law schools or online law schools, this would severely limit your ability to practice law in every state in the US except California. So taking your LSAT should be given a lot of importance. It is also good to take your initial LSAT during your junior year which would give you sufficient time to retake the test. Also try to take as many sample, simulated tests as possible before attempting the real thing.

GPA
A good GPA score and a good course load at the undergraduate level along with a nice LSAT score would go a long way in helping you secure a seat in law school. The admission board would favor students who have double majored than students with an identical GPA score who have majored only in one subject.

Personal Statement
Next you need to list your credentials so that the admission committee knows what exactly sets you apart from all the other aspiring candidates. A personal statement that lists your major accomplishments in life would make a good first impression. You can also enlist a credential assembly service to compile your biographical and academic information, in addition to your test score.

Timing
You should keep track of all the law school application deadlines meticulously. You need to apply to law schools of your choice as soon as they begin taking applications for that particular term. Getting your application in early would enhance your prospects of acquiring a seat in the institution.

Follow these tips and watch the videos over and over again to see if you have completed all the recommended steps in order to secure a seat in the law school of your choice.
